Police yesterday arrested five people with the charges of beating a local Juba League activist mercilessly on Sunday at Biswas Colony under Akbar area of Chattogram. The victim was identified as Mohammad Mohsin, 26, a resident of Biswas colony and known as follower of Phartali Ward Awami League Joint Convener Sarwar Murshed Kochi.
Mohsin was undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital. The arrestees were identified as Md Masud, 18, Md Miraj, 27, Md Saju, 24, Md Belal, 20, and Md Tarek, 18. On Sunday, at around 5:30pm a 93-second CCTV footage, which went viral on social media yesterday, shows a group of 10-12 youths - equipped with sticks and rods - attacked Mohasin all on a sudden at the N-block of Biswas Colony.
