Abahani Limited came from behind to earn their 14th win defeating Team BJMC by 2-1 in the Bangladesh Premier League at Shaheed Bulu Stadium in Noakhali yesterday.
Abahani, the defending champions returning to the domestic league after a huge boosting up with impressive results in the AFC Cup, saw some struggle to obtain the win against the most bottom side Team BJMC.
Team BJMC, suffered their 11th defeat when they could win only one match and drew five just to manage eight points when their best results were to earn only win against the former champions Sheikh Jamal and forcing the league leaders Bashundhara Kings on goalless draw.
Abahani Limited after winning the match just closing the gap in on with the leaders Bashundhara Kings when they made their tally 42 points, four points behind to the table toppers.
However, the holders just satisfied with obtaining full three points after a hard work in the rain affected Shaheed Bulu Stadium when they conceded a goal first.
Samson Illiasu, the best performer of the Team BJMC led the home side on 25th minute with a spectacular direct shot from a corner but their lead lasted for only 15 minutes when Jewel Rana levelled it for Abahani on 40th minute.
After conceding the stunning goal from Illiasu of BJMC, Abahani were trying hard to bounce back and equalised the margin through Jewel Rana when from a strong move down the right Belfort provided a forward pass and Jewel Rana was very swift to slam home his header the BJMC keeper (1-1).
After the first half one all draw, both sides made a fresh start when BJMC were giving the champions immense trouble, as in the rest of the 45 minutes Abahani could score only one goal to escape with full three points.
Masih Saighani salvaged the Sky-Blue on 60th minute with a good header when the ball came to him from a long throw-in off Raihan Hassan (2-1).
