Oman Air, the national flag carrier of Oman, yesterday started its flight operation on Muscat-Dhaka-Muscat route apart from its existing operation to Chittagong, reports BSS.
The first flight of Oman Air from Muscat to Dhaka arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) at 4-30pm.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon along with high officials of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) welcomed the first flight of Oman Air at the airport.
“We increased the flight frequency of Oman Air for both directions to 42 from 21 in a week,” Menon said after receiving the maiden Dhaka flight of Oman Air.
The minister said the government is keen to welcome more and more airlines to operate in Dhaka aiming at making Bangladesh as a regional aviation hub.
Initially the Oman airlines will operate four flights a week on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday and Friday, Chairman of Galaxy Group Toufiq Uddin Ahmed, the local agent of Oman Air said.
