Shahjahan Mahmood takes charge of the Bangladesh Telecom Regulatory Commission (BTRC) as its chairman today. Mahmood will replace Sunil Kanti Bose whose tenure ended on October 22. His tenure will continue until May 11, 2018. Mahmood, an expatriate Bangladeshi in the United States, came back to the country on Thursday.
He graduated from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and comes from Rangpur.
The new chairman will have to face the dilemma of unregistered SIMs, starting of MNP and updating telecommunication policy.
