The motive behind killing of Uber driver Arman was to snatch away his Toyota Allien brand car. Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) of Detective Branch (DB) Abdul Baten informed the journalists at a press conference yesterday. He said police on Saturday night arrested three people from different areas of the capital in connection with the murder. The arrestees are -- Sijan, 24, Sharif, 19 and Sajib, 20. Police also recovered two knives used to kill Arman. Among the arrestees, Sijan is a professional hijacker. In primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted their involvement and informed that an unknown man wanted a Toyota Allien car and offered Sijan Tk 8 lakh, prompting his plan to hijack a car, said the commissioner. They called Uber and kept on cancelling and asking for new rides for five times until they found a Toyota Allion car. He said Sijan slit Arman’s throat when the car arrived, but failed to hijack the car. Replying to a question, the Commissioner said they are interrogating the detainees for further details about the man who wanted the car and find out his purpose. Earlier on June 13, the throat-slit body of Md Arman, 42, was found in his car in front of the house no-52, road no-16, and sector-14 of Uttara.
