Stock market rose marginally yesterday when the broader price indices of the country’s twin bourses closed the week’s opening session up, reports BSS.
The DSEX index at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ended last week in red, but showed a little recovery on Sunday, with finishing the day flat at green zone at 4649.28. Similarly, the Shariah DSES ended flat at 1116.48 when the blue-chip DS30 lost marginally to 1762.21.
The daily average trade value and volume, however, declined as investors moved cautiously as the third quarter earnings reports were hitting the DSE’s news board. The trade value and volume at Sunday’s close were over 8 per cent down at Tk 325.71 crore and 9.59 crore shares respectively.
Food and allied and textile sectors were the major gaining sectors of the day when the top advancing issues were Miracle Industries, Standard Ceramic, Desh Garment, Hakkani Pulp and Deshbandhu Polymer.
Bank, engineering, telecom, cement, NBFI and mutual fund were the day’s major lagging sectors when the top five losing securities were EHL, Green Delta MF, DESCO, MHSML and KDS Accessories.
Aman Feed topped the turnover list followed by CVO Petroleum, KDS Accessories, Beximco Pharmaceuticals, United Air and Miracle Industries. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also opened the week yesterday mixed, with its CSCX index closing flat when the selective indices were marginally down.
The CSCX index closed the day at 8635.85. Most of the issues traded ended higher. Out of the day’s traded 233 issues, 113 gained and 92 incurred loss. Some 88.96 lakh shares changed hands for Tk 29.28 crore.
