Breakthrough in Italian murder case claimed

Law enforcers claim that they are hunting down the three suspects involved in the murder of Italian aid worker Cesare Tavella, who was killed by unidentified assailants on September 28 in the capital’s Gulshan diplomatic area.
Some intelligence officials involved in the investigation of the murder case said that after checking several video clips from adjacent buildings, their attention was drawn to a CCTV footage where two people were seen leaving the spot after the murder on a motor bike.
In the footage, one suspect was seen leaving the spot while speaking with somebody on his mobile phone. The same person was later seen behind the driver of a motor bike.
But according to Setara Begum, a street vendor who was present near the spot, two people had shot the victim while another was waiting on a motorbike. Later, the three fled the spot on a single bike.
Another eyewitness, Joynal Khan, a rickshaw mechanic, told this correspondent that he had clearly seen three youths hurriedly fleeing the scene on a bike after the murder.
These statements do not go with the collected video clips of the law enforcers, where only two people were seen leaving the crime scene.
Meanwhile, local sources claimed that police have already detained some suspects, including Shohel alias Bangari Shohel, 38, Tamzid Ahmed alias Rubel, 28, and Md Rasel, 35.
Deputy police commissioner, Detective Branch (DB), Mahbub Alam, and assistant police commissioner Mahfujul Alam Russel refused to comment on the issue. However, they hinted that some of the suspects have already been arrested and that they would soon be arrested.
