Relief and Disaster Management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya yesterday said the next parliamentary election would not be held before the time stipulated by the constitution.
He said this at a discussion organised by Bangladesh Muktijoddha Projanma League at Awami League central office in the city marking the 51st birth anniversary of Sheikh Russel, reports BSS.
Maya said BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Rahman are hatching conspiracy staying outside the country. Khaleda Zia has embarked on killing foreigners in the country, he added.
The next general election will be held in 2019, the minister said and urged the BNP to take part in polls keeping confidence in people. “You will not be able to go to power without an election.
You will no more be allowed to go to power through the backdoor,” he said, referring to the BNP.
Mofazzal Hossain thanked the home minister and the administration for ensuring security during the Puja.
