Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated amid huge enthusiasm in cities

Holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the greatest religious festivity of the Muslims, was celebrated amid huge enthusiasm, cheerfulness, religious fervour and solemnity everywhere in Rajshahi,  Barishal and Rangpur cities on Wednesday.

Our Correspondent adds from RAJSHAHI: Hundreds of devotees offered their Eid-prayers in various Eidgah and mosques of the city. Special prayers were also offered at the end of the Eid Jamaat.

The devotees also offered feteha and prayers at the Tikapara grave yard, Hatemkhan grave yard, Upasahar grave yard and Sultanabad grave yard of the city. The congregation was also held at Dargha Mosque due to rain. Principal of Jamia Islamia Shah Makhdum (R) Madrasa Alhaj Hazrat Mufti Maulana Shahadat Ali conducted the Eid prayer.

Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Nur-ur-Rahman, Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner SM Abdul Kader along with top government and non-government officials, bankers offered their prayer here.

The second largest congregation was held at Shaheb Bazaar Boro Rasta where more than 5,000 devotees offered their prayers. Meanwhile, RCC lighted and decorated with colourful flags various squares including the Nagar Bhaban, Talaimari Cubic square, Bhadara Smriti Amlan, C&B crossing and Air port on the occasion of Eid.

Improved food was also distributed at Rajshahi Central Jail, hospitals, child and maternity centres, vagabond shelters and at the orphanages of the city on the occasion of the Eid.

On the other hand, due to Eid vacation, Rajshahi city roads now look deserted. People are rushing various entertainment spots like at the bank of Padma River, Shahid AHM Kamruzzaman Central Park and Zoo, Zia Park, I & T embankments and at the Shimla Park. Staff Reporter from Barishal writes. at least 160 Eid jamaat (congressional prayer) were held in the city areas.

Special arrangements were taken in all the Eid-Jamaat premises for facing monsoon rainfall. Units of different law enforcing agencies have been deployed to maintain safety, security and disciplines of the Eid Jamaats, said Nasiruddin Mallik, spokesman of Barishal Metropolitan Police.

The main Eid Ul Fitr Jamaat in the city was held at Hemayet Uddin Central Eidgah Maidan at 8-30 am. Mawlana Nurur Rahman Beg conducted it.

Among others water resource state minister Col. (retd.) Zahid Faruk Shamim,  BCC Mayor Serniabad Sadik Abdullah, BNP city president Mojibor Rahman Sarwar, Barishal Chamber of Commerce and Industries President Saidur Rahman Rintu, deputy commissioner  SM Ajiar Rahman and other socio-political leaders and mass people, attended the prayer,  informed Belayet Hossain Bablu, public relation officer of Barishal City Corporation.

BSS adds from Rangpur: Thousands of Musollis participated in the Eid-ul-Fitr congregations held at the Eidgahs, mosques, open places and grounds in the cities, district and upazila towns and rural areas amid favourable weather.

Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP), district police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13, Police Investigation Bureau (PIB) and other law enforcement agencies took ample steps to ensure peaceful holding of Eid congregations in festive atmosphere.

The important government buildings, establishments and mosques were illuminated and the main streets decorated with various colourful flags bearing inscriptions ‘Eid Mubarak’ giving charming looks all around in the cities and towns. Improved diets were served among inmates of different hospitals, jails, shishu paribars, orphanages and vagrant welfare centres allover the division.

In Rangpur district, 242 Eid-ul-Fitr congregations were held at different at different Eidgahs, grounds, mosques and other places under jurisdictions of RpMP while more 1,020 congregations in all eight upazilas and three municipalities, officials said.
