A Sylhet court on Wednesday recorded testimonies of three witnesses in former Finance Minister Shah AMS Kibria murder case.
The court fixed October 28 and 29 for further recording of testimonies. Sylhet Speedy Trial Tribunal judge Mokbul Ahsan recorded the testimonies of three witnesses in the morning, which continued for two hours.
A total of 171 witnesses will give their testimonies in the sensational murder case, according to Kisur Kumar Kor, a public prosecutor of Sylhet Speedy Trail Tribunal .
On September 30, the court also recorded the testimonies of former lawmaker of Hobiganj-2 constituency and plaintiff of this case Abdul Mozid Khan.
Earlier on 13 September , the court framed charges against BNP leaders Lutfozzaman Babar and Harris Chowdhury and 30 others in the case.
Former State Minister for Home Affairs Lutfozzaman Babar and sacked Sylhet city mayor Ariful Haq Chowdhury were produced before the court among others during the hearing.
On January 27, 2005, five people, including Kibria, were killed and 70 others injured in a grenade attack on a public rally of local Awami League at Baidder Bazar in Sadar upazila of Habiganj district.
After the incident, Awami League leader Abdul Mozid Khan MP filed two cases-- one for murder and another under the Explosives Substances Act with the Habiganj Police Station on the following day. Later Assistant Superintendent of CID Munshi Atique submitted a charge sheet against 10 BNP leaders and activists on March 19, 2005.
