At least six persons were killed in separate three road accidents in Shimrail and Sanarpar area on Dhaka-Chittagong highway on Tuesday night and early yesterday under Shiddhirganj police station of Sadar upazila in Naraynganj.
The deceased were identified as Mintu, 40, son of Panna Mia, Delowar, 30, son of Abdur Rashid, Al-Amin, 18, son of Abdul Mannan, Sagar, 25, son of Aminul Islam. They all are residents of Rupshi village of Rupganj upazila in the district. The two other deceased, who were killed in another two separate accidents, identified as Mominul, 45, son of Habil Uddin of Chuadanga district and Mainuddin, 55, son of Mukim Hawladar of Lakhmipur district.
In first accident, the four persons were killed at about 4.45 am yesterday in Senarpar area when a speedy bus hit a CNG run auto-rickshaw. They were going to Dhaka from Araihazar upazila, sub-inspector Masud Alam of Shiddhirganj police station said.
Two persons were killed in two incidents in Shimrail area on Tuesday as they were hit by separate buses. Police seized a bus bearing number (Dhaka Metro Ja-18-0173) and arrested its driver Osman Goni. Police recovered the bodies and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital Morgue for autopsy.
