Man held for �rape� of university student
Police on Monday arrested a man from Manikganj on Monday for alleged rape, torture of a private university student in the capital and the capture of those acts on video.
The arrested were identified as Ashiqur Rahman Sabuj, 30, hailing from Manikganj Sadar Upzaila and owner of Eshan Motors at Wireless Gate area in Manikganj town.
The victim, a student of a private university in the capital was residing at a female hostel in Banani. According to the case filed over the incident, Sabuj on Monday at around 11am forcibly picked up the girl on his private car from in front of the Banani hostel. Later, he raped and tortured the girl and the driver of the vehicle captured this on video.
Later, the miscreants left the victim in front of the hostel, her family said in the case statement. Admitting the arrest, Assistant Police Superintendent of Manikjanj Sadar Circle Nowzir said, We arrested Sobuj from Manikganj town on Monday after getting the complaint.
We also seized some video clips taken during the torture of the victim from his mobile phone, he said.
The victim was admitted to Manikganj Sadar Hospital and her necessary medical tests were completed yesterday, said police.
