Kheya wants to continue with passion for singing

Talented singer Maliha Tabassum Kheya has been pursuing her dreams and following her passion towards singing. The young singer was the voice behind the title song ‘Pora Mon Pora Mon Tor Preme Pora Mon…’ from the film ‘Pora Mon’ directed by Zakir Hussain Raju, and received immense praise for that song.  Before ‘Pora Mon’, she sang for the film ‘Kichhu Asha Kichhu Bhalobasha’, directed by Mustafizur Rahman Manik, under the music direction of singer Arefin Rumi. She also received immense praise for her song ‘Amar Emon Boleche Se Tomar Preme Porechhe’ from the film ‘Onek sadher Moyna’, directed by Zakir Hussain Raju.
In 2013, she released her first solo album ‘Mom Mane Na’ under the banner of CD Choice.  Arefin Rumi was in music direction for the album and the lyrics were penned down by Anurup Aich and several other musicians. The album contained nine songs, all of them were melodious.
However, tragedy stuck in her personal life the same year as she was diagnosed with bone cancer. She received treatment in Chennai’s CMC hospital. She is in need of bone transpiration. Since the procedure is extremely expensive, the treatment will take time. She and her family are currently making the necessary arrangements. Due to weakness, she is not seen on stage shows, but the singer informed that she will be ready to be on stage.
Kheya spoke with DhakaLive about her passion for singing, “Singing is a unique form of art. Not anybody can just sing, it is a gift from the Almighty. This talent has to be nurtured and valued. I want to sing for the rest of my life and present my listeners with many more songs.”
The singer also expressed her desire to work more closely with the people, who work regularly in films and albums, and wants to get busier with music.
Kheya was recently seen performing at a musical programme titled ‘Robir Abir’ on SATV.  l
