Elite anti-crime Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) yesterday said they enforced an intensified security vigil in and around Kamalapur Railway station ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr. RAB personnel set up a makeshift camp at the entrance of the station while their personnel were seen patrolling around the station.
“This (intensified) vigil will continue until the return of the people to Dhaka after their Eid celebrations at their ancestral home,” RAB-3
commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Emranul Hasan told a media briefing at the Kamalapur Station. He said extra security plans were chalked up for shopping malls, markets, banks and places which draw huge crowd during Eid.
Hasan said makeshift control rooms, security checkpoints and CCTV cameras were installed at areas within purview of different RAB units, which also kept ready their striking forces to be called out to combat any situation that could affect peace.
