Fire at carton factory
Fire broke out at a carton manufacturing factory in Eidgah Bou Bazar area of Halishahar in Chittagong yesterday. The fire was originated from electric short circuit around 11am and soon engulfing the factory named ‘AMG Paper and Poultry’ owned by Md Ali Sawdagor. On information, firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after two hours fanatic efforts.  However, the extent of losses caused by the fire estimated Tk 8 lakh, said Md Abdur Razzak, senior station manager of Agrabad fire station.

Youth held with yaba tablets

Police arrested a man along with 500 yaba tablets from city’s Shah Amanat Bridge area yesterday. The arrestee was Md Sohel, 20, son of Md Siddique, hailed from Narayanganj district. Police searched a bus ‘Saudia Paribahan’ in the area around 2:45am and arrested Sohel with 500 yaba tablets, said Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge of Bakalia police station.

Nachiketa to perform Oct 29

Famous singer, songwriter and composer of India Nachiketa Chakraborty will perform in the premier port city of Chittagong on October 29. The concert titled ‘Nachiketa Live in Chittagong’ is going to be held at the city’s Engineers Institute from 7pm till 11am. Sa-Re-Ga-Ma-Pa famed singer Madhurima Basu will also perform in the concert hosted by Red Velvet Events. Reshma Akhter Tisha will anchor the concert.
