The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has cleared chairman of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) Rear Admiral Mohammad Nizamuddin Ahmed of graft allegations, reports UNB.
The Commission gave the clean chit to the CPA chairman and three officials of private firms through an official notice issued by ACC secretary Abu M Mustafa Kamal, posted on the ACC website yesterday.
The private firm officials who got released from graft allegation are director of Ecom Holding Limited Rafiqul Islam, chairman of Bengal Lloyd Limited Ziaul Hasan Chisty and owner of Arup Enterprise Nazmul Haque Khan.
The ACC had received a graft allegation in early this year that CPA chairman Nizamuddin Ahmed along with three private firms procured equipment and scanner of port’s security division and brought three ships violating rules in tender invitation, and involved in corruption for their personal interest.
Later, taking the allegation into the account, the national anti-graft body initiated a probe against them, ACC sources said.
After conducting an inquiry against him, they said, the ACC did not find their involvement in any graft or irregularity.
