A day-long trainers training workshop on advanced potato and sweet potato variety and production technology was held at the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) in Gazipur yesterday. The Tuber Crops Research Centre of the institute organised the workshop that was inaugurated by BARI Director General Dr Abul Kalam Azad as the chief guest. Director (Tuber Crops Research Center) Dr AKM Shamsul Huq presided over the function while Director (Support Service) Dr Madan Gopal Saha was present as special guest. Principal Scientific Officer of Tuber Crops Research Center and Project Director Dr Haridas Chandra Mohanta addressed the welcome speech.
Senior scientists, officers, 30 representatives from BARI, Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), BADC and various NGOs participated in the training workshop.
While addressing, BARI Director General Dr Abul Kalam Azad said, recently BARI released some new varieties of potato and sweet potato which are more nutritious and disease resistant. We organise this training programme to give this information to our farmers.
