The government officers serving at16 departments in Debiganj upazila observed sit-in programme demanding cancellation of decision
that requires signing of the salary cheques and other bills jointly by the upazila chairman and UNO.
The programme started at 11am and lasted till 12 noon in front of upazila parishad premises yesterday.
The participants said the decision taken by the government would create indiscipline in the offices. Subservient staff will not abide by the order of their superiors as their salary and bills will be issued follwong the signatures of upazila chairman and UNO.
Concerned office head would not be able to control their staff under new government rule. Not only that, all first class officers excepting officer-in-charge will remain dependant on upazila chairman and UNO.
Earlier on October 14, an order was passed by the government saying a joint account will be opened in the name of upazila parishad.
