Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia will address a public gathering in London, either on October 27 or 28, to highlight the problems confronting democracy in Bangladesh and the role of the people in restoring it, according to sources close to her in London.
The president of the UK unit of the BNP MA Malique, when contacted, confirmed that they would arrange a public meeting in London, where Khaleda Zia will
speak. He, however, said they are yet to finalise the venue for the planned rally, but hinted it would be held on October 27 or 28.
“We are looking for a suitable place in London for her to speak. The date of the gathering depends on the availability of a suitable venue,” said the UK BNP leader.
Malique said the former premier, currently in London for treatment, will issue a policy statement from the rally. He added that the party chairperson will address the expatriate Bangladeshis in the UK, including local party leaders and activists.
The BNP’s senior vice chairman, Tarique Rahman, and BNP leaders in the UK will also address the function, he added.
