Submit autopsy, inquest reports within 10 days of murder

HC asks investigation officers

The High Court (HC) yesterday ordered investigation officers probing murder cases to submit autopsy and inquest reports to magistrates within 10 days of the killings. A High Court division bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order.

The court also directed to send copies of this order to home secretary, health secretary, director general of DGHS and IG Prisons and asked them to take necessary steps in this regard. The court came up with the order as one investigation officer Thakur Das Mondal, probing a double-murder case in Bagerhat, appeared before the court yesterday and explained his failure to submit the reports. The HC summoned the IO on May 6 as he failed to submit the reports despite court’s order.
