Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) expressed its willingness to be hosts of some international hockey tournaments in the coming season. AKM Mominul Haque Sayeed, the newly elected general secretary of the BHF  put across his desire when he met the Chief Executive Oficer (CEO) of the Asian Hockey Federation Tayyab Ikram at his office in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Sayeed, a young organiser, who was also the chairman of the Mariners Young Club was elected the general secretary of the BHF defeating prominent hockey figure Abdus Sadeque, before the election in his manifesto he expressed some commitments including to organise some the international hockey tournaments in Dhaka.

However, Sayeed had the meeting with the AHF boss at the head office of the AHF in Kuala Lumpur yesterday when he expressed his intention. Sayeed placed his proposal to organise the coming edition of the Champions Trophy, age group Asian Cup and the age group World Cup in Bangladesh.

Besides the above tournaments, Sayeed has also proposed to organize India vs Pakistan international match as the neutral venue.  The general secretary of the BHF also appealed to the AHF high ups to support the BHF to set up an indoor ground in one part of the Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium.

The AHF boss Ikram also gave him assurance to consider the proposals of the BHF. Meanwhile, Bangladesh will take part in the seventh edition of the Asian Indoor Hockey Championship to be held in Bangkok from July 15 when it will be the first time for Bangladesh to play in indoor hockey.

The vice-president of the BHF Abdur Rashid Sikdar met with the president of the Thailand Hockey Federation Chaiyapak Siriwa yesterday and convinced him to have a two-week practice facilities in Bangkok.

The Thai Hockey Federation president also agreed that it will help Bangladesh team with providing training and accommodation facilities free of cost when Rashid had a courtesy call on Chaiyapak Siriwa.
