Bangladesh science confce ends at BSMRAU
The closing ceremony of the 23rd Bangladesh Science Conference was held on Sunday at Begum Sufia Kamal auditorium of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) in Gazipur, says a press release.
A K M Mozammel Huq, Minister of Liberation War Affairs was present as chief guest and delivered his speech.
Vice-chancellor of this university Prof Dr Md Mahbubar Rahman and Prof Dr Mohammed Alauddin, vice-chancellor of Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology, Dr Md Rafiqul Islam Mondal, Director General, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute and Dr Jiban Krishna Biswas, Director General, Bangladesh Rice Research Institute were present as special guests.
Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain, president, Bangladesh Association for the Advancement of Science (BAAS) and Pro-vice-chancellor of Dhaka University presided over the closing ceremony. The programme also addressed among others Dr Md Shahidul Islam. General Secretary, BAAS, Dr Md Ismail Hossain Mian, Chairman, Organising committee and Treasurer, BSMRAU and Dr M Kamruzzaman, member secretary, organising committee.
Scientists from different universities and research organisations, guests, faculty members, officers and employees were presents on the occasion.
EWU arranges seminar
East West University arranged a seminar titled “Smoking Kills” on their Aftabnagar campus in the capital on Sunday, says press release.
Professor Dr Pran Gopal Datta, former vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University was the chief guest and delivered the keynote paper.
Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, chairperson, Board of Trustees, East West University and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank chaired the seminar while Professor Dr MM Shahidul Hassan, VC of East West University was the special guest. Pro-VC Professor Dr M Sekander Hayat Khan, deans, faculty members, students and university staffs were also present in the seminar.
Training session held at NSU
North South University (NSU) has organised a training session for their administrative officers on Sunday on its campus, says press release.
The training session will mainly focus on employee’s office etiquette, stress management, professional integrity, punctuality and work environment. Individuals who are conducting the training are specialized in their fields.

JU goes on Puja vacation today
SAVAR: Jahangirnagar University (JU) is going to a 14-day-long academic vacation from October 20 to November 2 marking the Durga Puja, Ashura and admission test for academic session 2015-2016.
The administrative activities will remain close from October 22 to 24. The regular classes and examinations will be started from November 3 after the holidays. The admission test for academic session 2015-2016 will be held from October 25 to November 02.
