BCL leader hurt in factional clash
A leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was injured in a clash between two factions of BCL on Sylhet Engineering College campus in the city on Sunday night. The injured was identified as Raihan Chowdhury, general secretary of the district unit of BCL. Witnesses said the clash took place between two rivaling BCL groups of the campus around 11 pm over the announcement of their new campus committee. Raihan, who was announcing the newly formed committee, was injured during the clash. The two groups also vandalised three restaurants in Tilagarh area of the city. Being informed, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Additional deputy commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (South) Jedan Al Musa confirmed the incident. Additional police forces were deployed in the area.

Man electrocuted

An auto-rickshaw driver died from electrocution at Rajnagar village in Dharmapasha upazila in Sylhet on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Manik Miah, 35, son of Lalfor Ali, a resident of the village. Golam Kibria, officer-in-charge of Dharmapasha Police Station, said Manik came in contact with a live electric wire when he was plugging the battery of his auto-rickshaw at his home around 7pm. Later, he was rushed to Dharmapashu Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.

3 ‘drugs traders’ held
Police arrested three drugs-traders with 80 yaba tablets from Shalua village under Charghat Upazila of the district on Sunday, police said. The arrested were Shakhawat Hossain, 35, Sajedul Islam, 28, and Sahabur Rahman, 25.
On a tip-off, police conducted a raid in the area and picked them up and recovered 80 yaba tablets from them. A case was recorded with concerned police station.
