RMG workers block road in Ctg

The apparel workers of a factory at Sagarika Industrial Area under Pahartali police station in the city blocked Sagarika road yesterday morning. The agitating apparel workers of Gous Fashion Industries Ltd took to the streets protesting at the factory authorities’ sudden decision of retrenching some of the workers. Arifur Rahman, Inspector (Intelligence), Industrial Police, Chittagong told The Independent that several hundred apparel workers agitated after they came to know about the decision of termination of some 6 workers.  “The factory authorities said that they are going through a tough time as the work order dropped. The factory authorities assured us that they will make final decision regarding retrenchment on Saturday,” added the Inspector.
