The World Statistics Day will be observed today with the theme ‘Better Data, Better Lives’ emphasising critical role of high-quality official statistical information in analysis and informed policy decision-making in support of sustainable development, reports UNB.
This year, the member states of the United Nations are going to observe the day for the second time as the first World Statistics Day was celebrated in 2010 after the UN general assembly adopted a resolution in 2010 to mark the day in every five years.
To mark the day in a befitted manner in Bangladesh, the Statistics and Informatics Division (SID), the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) and the Bangladesh Statistics Samity have chalked out elaborate programmes.
