Cities in puja festive mood

The Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindus, begins with the incarnation (Bodhon) of the Goddess Durga at temples in Rajshai on Monday. Preparations for celebrating the festival have already been completed. A total of 402 mandaps, including 67 in the city, have been set up across the district this year to celebrate the Durga Puja, Anil Kumar Sarker, Vice-President of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad, said. Meanwhile, Rajshahi Metropolitan and Zila Police have started taking preparations to make full security arrangement to ensure smooth holding of Durga Puja. Leaders of the community said the police and the district administration  extended their hands to facilitate the puja celebration in a peaceful manner while officials said special teams comprising five to seven members of police and ansar forces were deployed in each Puja mandaps in the district to provide  security.
