Three siblings, all madrasa students, were killed in a road accident on the Rangpur-Dinajpur Highway at Darshana in Rangpur yesterday afternoon.
The three victims, Shahidul Islam, Shariful Islam and Salma Akhter Sumaiya, were run over by a speeding Dinajpur bound bus from Dhaka.
Two brothers, Shahidul and Shariful, died on the spot while their sister Sumaiya was pronounced dead by the duty doctor at Rangpur Medical College Hospital after she was brought there by locals.
Soon after the incident, local people blockade the Dinajpur-Dhaka Highway for about an hour.
Abdul Aziz, OC (Investigation) of Kotwali Police Satation, said the three siblings were students of Darshana Maitul Mokkaram Madrasha. Elder brother Shariful Islam was carrying his brother and sister on a bi-cycle when a Dinajpur bound coach of Jisan Paribahan from Dhaka crushed them under its wheels. The coach drove away following the accident.
