Bangladesh Bureau of Statistic (BBS) is going to observe World Statistic Day 2015 to aware the people about the necessity of statistic in their analytical estimations and assumptions.
“Better data for better life” has been selected as the main theme of this year’s observation.
BBS is getting ready to provide with quality and up to date data for more accurate analysis and decision making, said Director General of BBS Baitul Ameen.
He said this while addressing at a press conference on the eve of World Statistic Day held at Parishan Khan Bhaban in the capital yesterday.
Former vice chancellor of Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) Prof Nazrul Islam, and Deputy Director General Shamsul Alam also addressed the programme.
BBS will undertake a day-long programme including rally, seminar and cultural programme to celebrate the occasion of the World Statistic Day. On 20 October, World Statistics Day is observed throughout the world. This occasion was marked for the first time last year, following a unanimous UN resolution adopted by the General Assembly on June 3, 2010.
