A bus helper was hit to death allegedly by a passenger at Mithapukur upazila headquarters of Rangpur yesterday evening, reports UNB. The deceased was identified as Ashraf, 35, helper of a Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) bus and son of Emdad Bepari of Rangpur district. Witnesses said a BRTC bus was going to Gaibandha from Pachagarh. A passenger, Anwar, was travelling on the roof of the bus. When the bus reached Mithapukur, Ashraf asked Anwar to climb down, which angered him. Later, Anwar hit Ashraf in the head with a duster around 7:30pm, leaving him dead on the spot, said officer-in-charge of Mithapukur Police Station Humayan Kabir. Police arrested Anwar from the spot, he said.
