The south-western monsoon system, which brings the rainy season to the country, departed quietly on Saturday. The monsoon delivered no further rains, but left behind only bright autumn sunshine, which continued to blaze yesterday. The monsoon left sans rains, but left behind northerly winds, signalling that autumn days would not be there for long to replace the end of rainy days. Dry weather is likely to prevail to make room for winter, which officially begins in mid-November, sources in the met office said.
