Deposition ends in Rajon murder case

Three more people, including DB Inspector Suranjit Talukdar, also investigation officer of the case, gave their testimonies before the Sylhet Metropolitan Session Judge Court yesterday in Rajon murder case. The court completed recording deposition of witnesses. All 11 accused, including the Kamrul were present in the court during the recording of testimony. At one stage of recording the testimony, Kamrul applied to the judge for rerecording the testimony of 35 people, those who were already gave in his absent. Sylhet Metropolitan Session’s Judge Akbar Hossain Mridha recorded the statements of three people yesterday. Rajon murder case had been transferred to the metropolitan session judge court from Metropolitan Court.  Earlier police pressed charges against 13 people, including prime accused Kamrul Islam for their involvement in the killing. Later court accepted the chargesheet on August 24. Investigation Officer Suranjit Talukder, also an inspector of the Detective Branch of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, submitted the chargesheet to the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Shahedul Karim on August 16. Apart from Kamrul, the other accused were Muhit Alam, Ali Haider, Nurul Amin, Dulal Ahmed, Nur Mia, Ayaz Ali, Badal, Firoz Ali, Shamim, Ruhul Amin, Pavel and Asmat Ali. In a charge sheet two detainees Lipi Begum and Ismail Hossain were relieving for not founding their involvement in the incident. On July 8, 13-year-old boy Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon, son of Sheikh Azizur Rahman of Badeali village in Sadar upazila of Sylhet, was brutally tortured to death over a theft at Sundar Ali Market in Kumargaon area of Sylhet city. The killers themselves took the video footage of the incident, which went viral on social networking site Facebook and video-sharing site Youtube which triggered a widespread outcry.
