Key share price indices at country’s twin bourses -Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - witnessed loss yesterday, the first trading day of the week, reports UNB.
The DSE benchmark index, DSEX lost 68.59 points or nearly 1.47 per cent to close at 4608.03 on the day. Of the 317 issues traded, 44 gained, 250 declined and 23 remained unchanged.
Shares worth Tk 310.89cr changed hands at the DSE on Sunday as against Tk 404.49cr on Thursday.
A leading stockbroker, LankaBangla said, “It was a weak start to the week as equity benchmark lost around one and a half per cent today, weighed by Bank, Real Estate and Pharma stocks.”
They said, “Benchmark index hit its strong support at 4600 level as investors were sulking over the continual drop in index reading.”
Few fundamental stocks closed flat with positive bias as quarterly earnings were very well been on the buyers’ radar, said LankaBangla.
The day’s top 10 losers at the DSE were Saif Powertec, KDS Accessories, Modern Dyeing & Screen Printing, Olympic Accessories, Orion Infusion, Lafarge Surma Cement, Apex Foods, Central Insurance, Paramount Insurance and AFC Agro Biotech.
Top five turnover leaders of DSE were Lafarge Surma Cement, BSRM Steels, Saif Powertec, KDS Accessories and Beximco Pharma.
