Commerce Secretary Md Mofizul Islam said that due to volatile nature of our market, sometimes we see price spiral of essential commodities in the month of Ramadan. He urged the traders of specialized business associations not to increase price of essential commodities ahead or in the month of Ramadan.
He also said that stock of every essential item for the consumers are in plenty at this moment, so there is no reason for being panic. And he sees no reason of price spiral in the upcoming month of Ramadan. But he said, stern action will be taken from the government against them who will try to make the market volatile.
He also called upon the businessmen to do business in an ethical manner. Moreover, he urged the consumers not to buy commodities more than his or her actual requirement as it is one of the main reasons of price hike. He made these comments at a discussion meeting organized by Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) yesterday at DCCI Auditorium in the capital.
