Four held over gang rape of RMG worker in Savar

Four young men have been arrested for allegedly raping a female readymade garments worker in Ashulia, on the outskirts of capital Dhaka. According to locals, the victim and her husband were attacked by unidentified men in Kandail area of Savar. The attackers beat up the husband and tied him to a tree before raping her, they said. The victim filed a case with Ashulia police station yesterday. Police later raided the area and arrested four youths in the afternoon.

Ashulia Police Station duty officer Sub Inspector Md Abdus Salam said police have primarily identified the four as the perpetrators. The four arrestees were produced before a court yesterday by Inspector Zia, the investigation officer in the case, he added.

The victim was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical tests, said Assistant Sub-Inspector Ibrahim of Ashulia Police Station.
