Farookis Saturday Afternoon wins two awards in Moscow

Mostofa Sarwar Farookis latest film Shonibar Bikel (Saturday Afternoon), the first part of the directors identity trilogy series, won two independent jury awards at the 41st Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) on Thursday. The first one is Russian Federation of Film Critics Jury Prize and the second one is the Kommersant Prize.
The closing ceremony of the 41st Moscow International Film Festival followed by first award ceremony of the 41st Moscow International Film Festival took place at the Rossiya cinema on Thursday (April 25). Director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, Nusrat Imrose Tisha and actor Zahid Hasan attended the award ceremony in Moscow.
Saturday Afternoon, a Bangladesh-Germany joint production is produced by Abdul Aziz from Jaaz Multimedia and Farooki from Chabial.
The film casts Nusrat Imrose Tisha, Zahid Hasan, Mamunur Rashid, Nader Chowdhury, Intekhab Dinar, Iresh Zaker and Gousul Alam Shaon from Bangladesh, while Palestinian actor Eyad Hourani and Indian actor Parambrata Chatterjee are also among the other cast in the film.
An unprecedented terrorist attack takes place in a peaceful caf in the center of Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh, on a nice Saturday afternoon. The terrorists use religion to divide and to kill people, while the surviving hostages, all of them also Muslims, try to defend their own humanistic values. The film unravels the clashes and contradictions of religion, ideology, and civilizations through a terror drama shot in a single take. l
