The Supreme Court (SC) yesterday stayed a High Court ruling that halted the biennial election of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI), clearing the way for the election to be held tomorrow. A three-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order after hearing a petition filed by the FBCCI seeking the stay on the HC order. Now there is no legal bar for holding the election, according to the FBCCI's legal team. Earlier on April 18, the HC stayed the process for holding the election to the posts of FBCCI director following a writ filed by former FBCCI director Bazlur Rahman.
