Nat’l cricketers given 2-day rest

BSS, Dhaka

The national players who played the recently concluded Dhaka Premier League (DPL) were given two days rest to keep them freshen up as they would have to gear up for a grueling international cricket which includes a tri-nation series in Ireland and ICC Cricket World Cup.

The players will back in action on Sunday to have a two-day practice before leaving the country for Ireland on May 1. Hosts Ireland and West Indies are the two opponents of Bangladesh in tri-nation tournament, which is considered a good build-up tournament for the World Cup.

“First of all, we have reduced the numbers in the early part of the camp. A lot of the guys have been playing in the DPL, a tough competition in searing heat. They need a  little break. I would have loved to do a lot of skill work with them,” Bangladesh head coach Steve Rhodes said.
