A three-day festival titled ‘Jatra Utsab 2019’ will begin today at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital.
Organised by the Theatre and Film Studies Department of BSA, the festival will feature staging of five jatra productions, workshop and award ceremony.
Today, on the opening day, Desh Opera will stage jatra ‘Ek Je Chhilo Moharani’ directed by Milon Kanti Dey, while Joyjatra will stage ‘Dwiper Naam Andhar Manik’ directed by Habib Sarwar.
Tomorrow, on the second day, Loko Natyagosthi will stage ‘Dui Bigha Jomi’ by Tapos Sarkar and Drama and Dramatics department of Jahangirnagar University will stage ‘Sohrab Rustom’.
The festival will come to an end by staging jatrapala ‘Joy Bangla Joy Bangabandhu’ by Theatre and Performance Studies Department of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University. l
