‘ECO FEST 2019’ held at AIUB

The Department of Economics of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organised its annual daylong ‘ECO FEST-2019’ on AIUB campus on Thursday, says a press release. The theme of this year’s programme was ‘Socio Economic Changes in Bangladesh and Global Context’ and the activities were designed for the college students and for the students of AIUB. Total 24 colleges along with the students of AIUB participated in the event. Planning Minister Muhammad Abdul Mannan, MP, was the chief guest in the closing ceremony and distributed the prizes among the winners. Dr Md Nuruzzaman, director (Training), National Academy for Planning and Development, was the special guest for the ECO FEST event.
Vice Chancellor of AIUB Dr Carmen Z Lamagna acknowledged the importance of the daylong activities organised by the Department of Economics and encouraged the students to be involved more in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Dr Rahmatullah ABM, head of the Department of Economics, also spoke in the event.
CUET observes Mujibnagar Day

Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) organised a discussion on Wednesday in observance of the historic Mujibnagar Day.
In the programme Vice-Chancellor of CUET Prof Dr Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, said, “The historic Mujibnagar Government is a milestone on the achievement of Bangladesh's independence. On April 17, 1971, the establishment of a state called Bangladesh was officially established. Through this institutional announcement, people have the courage to jump in the war,” said a press release here yesterday.
He also said, “Bangabandhu gave all the directions of independence in the historic March 7 speech. In his speech, the true seed of freedom was largely sown. Because of the political vision of Bangabandhu, we got an independent and sovereign land in just nine months.”
The meeting was presided over by architecture and planning department chairman Prof Md Saiful Islam, while engineering and technology dean Prof Ranjit Sutradhar, Registrar Prof Faruk-Uz-Zaman Chowdhury, spoke among others.
