Police recovered the body of a housewife from her house at Sheikhghat Kalapara in Sylhet city yesterday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Razna Chowdhury, 20, wife of Laxman Das of Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar district. Razna’s parents alleged that their daughter was killed by her husband following a family feud.
Razna, daughter of Subhash Chandra Chowdhury of Kodomsri village in Madan upazila of Netrakona, and Laxman, a truck driver of city corporation, got married on March this year following a love affair. Razna’s father said his wife came to him for treatment at Razna’s house at Sheikhghat Kolapara a few days ago. On Sunday midnight, Laxman locked an altercation with Razna over using a mobile phone. Later, they went to their room.
“In the morning I found the entrance door is open and Laxman is not at home. I called Razna but she did not respond. Later, Razna’s mother, who was in hospital before, came to the house at around 2.30pm and knocked the door. Getting no response from inside the room we informed the matter to police”, said he.
Deputy Police Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (South) Ajbahar Ali said “We primarily guess that Razna was murdered but the actual reason of her death could be known after autopsy.”
Laxman went into hiding after the incident.
