DPL title deciding match today

Holders Abahani Limited will fight against spirited Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the title-deciding fifth and last round fixture of the Super League of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) Ground-3 in Savar today to lift their 20th record title.
In last match, the star-studded team swept past Legends of Rupganj with an imposing 102- run victory that helped them regain the top spot though both the teams have chalked up the identical 24 points but Dhanmondi-based club had better net run-rate than Rupganj in their kitty to possess the pole position on the points-table.
But Abahani have to tame Sheikh Jamal to lift the coveted DPL title. On the other hand, Rupganj have to thrash fifth-placed Prime Bank Cricket
Club at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Along with that, if Abahani lose to Sheikh Jamal, Rupganj will then emerge the new DPL champions.
Abahanis opener Soumya Sarkar along with Wasim Jaffer appeared at the national cricket academy ground to hold their batting practice though they had no formal training session.
After a long time, Soumya got back in runs as he smashed his first century in current DPL that propelled them to a massive margin victory over Rupganj, who conceded only three matches in their 15-match road string.
Elsewhere at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, fourth-placed Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club will lock horns with the rock-bottom Mohammedan Sporting Club.
