The latest US manufacturing and trade statistics, released on Thursday, show that business inventories for February hit 2.02 trillion US dollars, up 0.3 per cent from the previous month’s data.
According to the US Census Bureau, manufacturers’ and trade inventories, adjusted for seasonal variations but not for price changes, were estimated at an end-of-month level of 2,017.4 billion dollars, up 0.3 percent from January 2019, and were up 4.9 percent from February 2018.
The combined value of distributive trade sales and manufacturers’ shipments for February, adjusted for seasonal and trading day differences but not for price changes, was estimated at 1,446.8 billion dollars, up 0.1 percent from January and was up 2.4 percent from February 2018.
The total business inventories-to-sales ratio based on seasonally adjusted data was 1.39 at the end of February, unchanged from January and up 0.03 from the same month last year.
