Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will leave Dhaka on April 21 to visit Brunei. The three-day trip is aimed at boosting bilateral relations between the two countries. Foreign ministry sources said several instruments were expected might be signed on energy, agricultural cooperation and investment during her visit. Besides, Brunei is a big labour market for Bangladesh, as around 16,000 Bangladeshis are now working in the country. The government of Bangladesh will place proposals to the Sultan of Brunei to expand the job markets for Bangladeshi workers, the sources said.
Prime Minister Hasina will speak to the Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah, during the visit and place several proposals for investment in Bangladesh in different sectors for a win-win situa tion for the two countries. Bangladesh will seek the expertise of Brunei in the field of energy for the offshore oil and gas exploration in the Bay of Bengal.
Foreign minister A.K. Abdul Momen will talk about the details of the PM’s visit at a press conference on Thursday, foreign ministry sources said.
