2 killed in Chuadanga brick kiln

Two workers were killed and another injured as a chunk of mud collapsed on them at a brick kiln in Joyrampur under Damurhuda upazila of the district yesterday morning.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Hannan, son of Kala Chand Mandal of Keshabpur village and Babu Mia, son of Lal Mandal of Bastopur village in the upazila.

While describing the incident, Shofikul Islam who is currently receiving treatment for his injuries said, “Like every other day, Hannan and Babu were working at Sheikh Brick kiln, when, a chunk of mud collapsed on them around 7:30am.

The injured were admitted to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, where on duty doctor declared them

dead.

The dead bodies were kept at the Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, said Dr. Shamim Kabir.

Construction of 5 Muktijoddha Complexes completed

Construction works of Muktijoddha Bhaban Complexes in five upazilas of the district were completed while three more Complexes including one in district headquarters would be completed during the current fiscal year.

Officials said the government has undertaken the project of Muktijoddha Bhaban Complex in seven upazilas of the district at a cost of Taka 19 crore aimed at projecting the history of the Liberation War and welfare of the Freedom Fighters.

Upazila level complexes are being constructed by Local Government Engineering Department while Public Works Department is constructing the Muktijoddha Complex at district headquarters.

Constriction works of Muktijoddha Complexes at Mathbaria, Bhandaria, Kaokhali, Nesarabad and Indurkani upazilas have already been completed and handed over to the Muktijoddha Sangsad.

Construction of the Complexes at Pirojpur district town and Nazirpur would be completed during the current fiscal year.

Every Upazila Muktijoddha Complex built at a cost of Taka 2.30 crore would have a market at ground floor, a Muktijoddha Sangsad Office on the second floor.

The third floor would be commercially used and to be rented to public or private organizations and its income would spend for welfare of the Freedom Fighters, Executive Engineer of LGED Sushanta Ranjan Roy said.

Muktijoddha Complex at Pirojpur Sadar is being constructed at a cost of Taka three crore which is expected to handed to Muktijoddha Sangsad next month.
