The High Court yesterday paved the way for the lower court concerned to continue trial proceedings of a corruption case against former BNP Law Minister Moudud Ahmed. The High Court bench comprising Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice SM Kuddus Zaman rejected a revision petition filed by Moudud for halting the trial proceedings of the lower against him in a graft case. The HC bench came up with the rejection order after holding hearing on the review petition filed by Moudud.
ACC lawyer Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan told reporters that there is no legal bar for the lower court concerned to continue trial proceedings of the corruption case against Moudud following the High Court order.
Earlier, the lower court concerned dismissed an application filed by Moudud seeking stay order on the trial proceedings against him in the case.
But, the former minister moved before the High Court challenging the lower court order that dismissed his application for halting the trial proceedings of the case.
In the review petition, Moudud prayed to the High Court to stay the trial proceedings of the case. But, the HC bench yesterday summarily rejected the revision petition filed by Moudud after hearing on it that paved the way for the lower court concerned to continue the trial proceedings against him in the case.
