Bangladesh to declare WC squad on April 18

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu said that the final squad of Bangladesh for the looming ICC Cricket World Cup will be announced on April 18, five days before the cut-out time.

The apex body of the World Cricket set ‘April 23’ as the cut-out date for the participating team to send their final squad for the 50-over extravaganza event.

“We will announce the final squad of Bangladesh for the ensuing ICC Cricket World Cup through a formal press conference on April 18,” said Minhajul Abedin Nannu.

“We will also pronounce Tigers squad for the tri-nation series in Ireland together. Keeping the injury in mind, the squad we will announce for the tri-series might be included one more extra player,” Nannu told The Independent.

It is learnt that the selectors might be submitted their squad to the BCB which will go to the president via BCB Cricket Operation for the final approval.

On April 7, the selectors were seen talking with Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Khaled Mahmud Sujon, who might be team manager for Bangladesh team in World Cup, in the aftermath of the Abahani Limited and Legends of Rupganj match.  

The showpiece event is scheduled to get underway with the match of hosts England and South Africa at Kennington Oval, London on May 30. Bangladesh will launch their World Cup mission against South Africa at the same venue on June 2.
