The two sons of Wahed Mansion's owner were sent on a seven-day remand yesterday in connection with the Old Dhaka fire that killed 71 people. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Razesh Chowdhury gave the order after police sought 10 days to interrogate Md Hasan and Sohel alias Shaheed.
A court sent Hasan and Sohel to jail on April 2, rejecting their bail petitions after they turned themselves in. The siblings had secured a three-week bail from the High Court on March 11. The court had asked them to surrender before a subordinate court after the tenure of the given bail is over and cooperate with investigation into the fire.
Seventy-one people were killed and dozens were injured in a fire that broke out at Wahed Mansion in Churihatta.
