Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said, government will work on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in collaboration with Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) to develop the IT sector, says a press release.
“Different software and ITES companies will be formed including gaming companies. This would facilitate the achievement of USD 1 billion export and 1 per cent contribution to GDP by the industry by 2018,” Kamal said.
The minister said this as a BASIS delegation led by its president Shameem Ahsan called on him on Wednesday evening.
“Almost 57 million of our population is young. We need to utilize our young population to progress. Through public private initiatives, we need to
work on capacity building of IT industry in accordance with the PPP model,” the minister added, asking BASIS to undertake relevant projects with this aspect.
BASIS Senior Vice President Russell T Ahmed, BASIS Vice President M Rashidul Hasan, Secretary General Uttam Kumar Paul, among others were also present in the meeting.
