Project Pothchola presents Mogoj Dholai 2.0
Book reading event engages underprivileged children

Project Pothchola, an initiative by Bandhu Foundation of Bangladesh, organised the second season of their innovative book reading event titled Mogoj Dholai 2.0 powered by FSIB. The event took place last Saturday at the premises of Bangladesh Shishu Academy in the capital.
Sponsored by First Security Islami Bank Limited (FSIB), a number of 54 children--aged between 9 and 16--from different underprivileged backgrounds participated in the event. The children were from different organisations, namelyLal Shobuj Foundation, Procheshta Foundation, Bidyanondo, Asroy, Leaping Boundaries and Shishuder Jonno Amra.
Two weeks before the event, the children were provided with four popular books named Bottle Bhoot, Bigyani Anik Lumba, Gupto Uddan and Robinson Crusoe to read.
During the event, quizzes from books were taken by a panel of judges. Later, fun segments such as puzzle-solving and treasure hunt, among other activities, based on the books were conducted. The activities of the event were planned in such ways which engaged the children in brainstorming and constructive activities intended not only for entertainment, but also to help the children to make the reading an overall entertaining and memorable experience.
About their event, Director of Project Pothchola, Sadia Rahman said to DhakaLive, By reading story books, children can expand the horizon of their imagination and sharpen their minds. Underprivileged children need more of it to struggle with the societal exclusion for their identity. Project Pothchola believes a human should be known by their capability not by their social identity. l
