President Abdul Hamid yesterday urged Qatar to take more skilled manpower from Bangladesh ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2022 to be hosted by the Arab country, reports UNB.
The President made the request when Qatar Ambassador in Dhaka Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Mohammad Al-Mana met him at Bangabhaban.
Abdul Hamid told the envoy that 2.5 lakh Bangladeshi workers are currently working in Qatar contributing to socioeconomic development of both Bangladesh and Qatar, President press secretary Joynal Abedin told the news agency after the meeting.
Mentioning that Bangladesh is interested to import Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from Qatar, the President said the final decision in this regard will be taken soon.
He invited the Emir of Qatar to visit Bangladesh in his convenient time saying the people of Bangladesh are eagerly waiting to receive him.
The President praised the role of the envoy for the development of the bilateral relation between the two countries, and hoped that it will be consolidated further in the days to come.
